Position:Home>General - Arts & Humanities > Are there names for art that people BUY versus art that people LOVE?

Question:Suppose I'm at a museum gift shop and want to buy a print of one of the artworks. I'll buy something that is fairly maintstream and neutral. I won't buy something that I thought was really cool and spent a lot of time looking at.

I think a lot of people act the same way.

Is there a word, or words, that explain this?

shallowness and fear of admitting you have different taste than others.

It's the age old fear of being weird, or different.
