Question:

How safe are sharpie markers on skin??

as far as drawing tattoos on yourself or your kids. is there something that says you shouldnt? are there any sites to back it up? or is there nothing unsafe about it?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I've never heard that there was anything unsafe about it, and if there were I bet there would be a label (ex: "Caution: Liquid in cup may be hot"). They wouldn't want to take any chances.

I assistant produced the musical South Pacific once and the guys used sharpies to draw tattoos all over themselves every night. At the end of the shows none of them were any stranger than they had been at the beginning of the shows.

The only thing you might want to be concerned about is that it takes several days for it to come out of skin. There's a reason it's called a permanent marker. I don't see a problem with it. Good luck washing it off though!! When I was pregnant, my husband drew a Christmas tree and Christmas scene on my stomach. It was so funny. Everyone at our family Christmas party loved it. I had no ill effects nor did my daughter who was born a couple months later!! It did take a few days and a lot of scrubbing to get it off!! It takes a few days to come off and some people have an allegic reaction to them like a rash. I've seen it but I don't know how common rashes are.
