Question:

What is the best starter guitar?

My 9 year old son Gage wants an electric guitar and amp. What is the best starters and size to buy for him. He is a tall heavy kid if that makes a diffrence..........Oh and he is left handed but ambidextrous in baseball and other sports.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Get him a left-handed Epiphone. It's a good brand and economic. Once he steps up, you can always invest a bit more and get him a nice Fender Strat.

As for Amps, Crate makes very good ones. Stick to 15watt. Until he gets good and you can stomach him blasting your eardrums to bits. And if he wants to add some effects and distortion, he can just buy pedals instead of spending a crapload for a huge amp with all the effects in it. Save that for if he's really serious.

Good luck. Source(s):
Own all I've discussed. fender. Squire Strat left handed epiphone well, you need to get that sorted out : is he going to play left or right handed ? It sounds like he could do either so I would stick with playing right-handed. He will have many more guitars to choose from this way. Good starter guitars are YAMAHA or FENDER SQUIER ; not too expensive but very good quality.
