Question:

My bass just stopped working, is it the pickups?

I was just turning up the volume knob on my bass to play and it cut out for a second, and came back on. Then I started to play a little more and then turning down the volume knob on the bass and then it just completely stopped working.. I know nothing about pickups and have little knowledge of this pretty much.

It is a Squier Fender bass
the same as in this picture

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: not likely. its probably broken wire on the volume knob

there should be a plastic plate on the back behind the volume knob. open it and see if there is a broken wire. if it still connected, see if you can wiggle it and make it work again, if so, voila. just solder it back on. It would be very rare for it to be the pickups causing the problem. I agree that it could be a broken wire and this is the easiest to check for and repair as emkay suggests...
However the way you say that it cut out when you turn the volume pot means that if it is not a broken wire then it should be this. If it is then just solder in a new one. They should only cost a couple of quid or a few dollars from your local electrical store.
