Question:

Man breaks his glasses when alone with his books?

What is the cultural reference where a man is alone with his books but then breaks his glasses? I don't know if it's a movie or a TV show, please help!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: its an episode of the twilight zone. a man complains or so about not having enought time to finish a book or read as much as he likes. then a bomb happens. he works at a bank i think and when the bomb goes off he was protected in the safe. he walks outside and finds everyone gone. stumbles onto the library and loves the idea of having all this time to read without being interrupted. he then breaks his glasses.

my question was why didnt he find glasses on someones dead body somewhere instead of cryin about it? he's crazy it is the end of the world in the twilight zone or the outer limits family guy.
in the episode peter got drunk to play the piano for his wife he killed all his brain cells but one. the last brain cell breaks his glasses and exclaims: "WHY?!! There was still time!" maybe he was just fed-up of reading? Yep. Twilight Zone. Burgess Meredith, the trainer from Rocky, played the Henry Bemis character.
