Question:

Do you think someone that studies a subject such as art history is sensitive and gentle?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: yes, with an old soul. could be. Or they could be a pompous loudmouth who wants to look sophisticated. Hard to say. Generally the rich do that so they can go to Uni at all. Not necessarily.
My friend studied this & I don't think she's ever been described this way. Not that she's a loudouthed bigot by any means either. No. I've known two of them who I wouldn't tangle with in a dark alley. Not even if I were armed and they weren't. There is no sense in stereotyping ANY group. Probably more gentle than someone who studies math or science. These are subjects that require interpretation, which means that you must be more understanding, either of the facts or the medium. People who study art tend to be more sensitive because of the sensitive nature of their craft. They are supposed to see emotion in every day life so that they can paint it, make music out of it, and express it in their way. People who study history have to be more understanding in order to really get a good grasp of the people they study.

There are always exceptions to everything though. Sometimes art can be in your face and music can sound like thunder. Art an music have their happy sensitive sides as well as their mean and angry sides, and so do the artists who create it. Plus artists tend to be very ocd and perfectionists, which sometimes makes them less gentle.

I dont know how accurate my thoughts are, but there you go. I would go more by the person's actions than by what they study in university.... I believe you are alluding to Prince William and if you are yes it is percieved as a very genteel subject. But is right that the future heir to throne studies it? Well it matters not as he would not actaully run the country - the prime minister would do that for him. Being an army officer balances that out - being able to lead men to fight for their country! I say kudos goes to William - he is more like his mother than his father. maybe mature students, it is considered quite an elitist course as one of the princes studied that so you are more likely to get snobby twerps, ya ya's and know all's No. Someone who studies Art History want to know more about the subject, perhaps gain a qualification and work in the Art or Antiques business or they are not clever enough to study a proper subject I studied the history of art for a short period and found it mind numbingly boring. There's a lot of practical terms to memorise. It's not a creative, artistic or expressive subject and it's not a talent anyone is born with so it doesn't give much away about the people who study it.
