Question:

Culture and Geography?

How does the geography of the USA affect its culture? Geography is the population, terrain, climate, weather. Please help me!!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well this is my take on this subject:

culture is customs, values, traditions, food, dress, beliefs, etc.

Take for instance a geographic area that involves cold weather, and mountainous terrain. What you wear will be affected. What you eat will be affected, what you believe about nature will be affected. Same goes if you live in the desert or if you live in a area with lots of hunting animals... You're town may have annual traditions such as hunting because of what is available to you via population, terrain, climate, etc. if you live in the south, you're ignorant...
if you live in the west, you might be broad minded, but you're high.
if you live in a state that's in a shape of a square, than you probably don't know what's going on in the world. The way a people live and the entertainment they engage is part of culture. If the geo of a country is mountainous then the culture engages in skining in winter and the mode of dress is a bit different that a geography whose climate is tropical. Think a bit outside the box when it comes to this type of question.. Mainly, through it's immigration and settling process. The southwest has close ties to Mexico, the Northeast to England & Ireland, the southeast to Cuba, the midwest (Chicago) also to Ireland. The northwest to Canada. Of course there are many more examples but these are some of the strongest.
