Question:

Why does Allen Ginsberg write the poem "A Supermarket in California"?

is he just obsessed with walt whitman? hidden meanings?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Well, in each's "day" they were considered quite unique and rebellious, and iconoclastic. And, both became "world famous" for their works. So, Ginsberg probably felt a certain kinship with Whitman.

One difference between them might be that Whitman, since earlier, had great hopes for America, as a leader in "enlightened thought and action" re humanistic values. Ginsberg lived while any illusions in that direction were surely crumbling. :)))
