Question:

A poem of truth?

I made a mistake

I made a mistake in the past
That will always haunt me to the last
I let drugs and booze control my life
Which in the end took someone else??s life
Now here I sit a supposedly free man
But groups like MADD have another plan
After I done all my sentence
And made all my repentance
They don't want to see me succeed in life
So they plan to cause me nothing but strife
They petition the courts to change the laws
So that others like me are always at flaw
So here I sit in my house in the dark
Not even enough money to buy a spark
I can??t find any work without a license
And the bills are just a bothering nuisance
I tried my best to except these laws
But in the end I just stare at the walls
So here I sit with this bottle of pills
Wondering if they will cure all my ills
With no chance at living a normal life
I might as well end my miserable blight
Thanks to them I figured out a way
Of getting out of living another day

I wrote this poem for a friend of mine that took his life after trying to suceed in this world by doing everything legally. But his past stayed with him and he was always judged for it thusly never getting the chance to suceed. The way the laws are today anyone with a felony conviction is almost doomed. Its even worse for a felony dui manslaughter since groups like madd and others are the only ones making suggestions to how the laws should be. Guess my point was just take a look at the other side of things and not be closed minded to the fact people do change and should be able to have to chance to regain thier right to survive in todays time.

That is a great poem. It really encourages people and lets you think from their point of view. Now, rappers are refering to these things as good, and how it will make you more "relaxed". That's not true at all.

A wonderful and true depiction of somebody who made a mistake that they can't really turn around. It gets an "A+" in my book!

Did you write it yourself? If so, you are a natural! If not, who did?
