Question:

Your opinion on my poem?

Soliloquy

This is, I think, the place
Where we drove off the road and parked,
Right there, near that big stone
We jumped from the car, ran down the beach
Until our knees were wet
And then back up to get our lunch,
And watched the breakers roll and roll while we ate.

These look like the same gulls
But must be their great grandchildren by now,
They climbed above your hair
Streaming in the wind
And sang in the rocks
And dived for crusts we tossed up to them.

We knew not how free we were, as they,
Free, but in need, as they.

We looked for shells
And found them.

Have others wandered since on this ground
And found here what you and I once found?
