Question:

Will anyone help me write a poem?

I need a poem by Sunday about a co-worker. I have to chose who has done an outstanding job, and the certificate I present them must have a poem on it. But I'm poetic at all. Would any one be able to help me?

...should say NOT poetic at all....

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

You know the person to be honored. So, that's a good start. One good way to compose a poem, is to write down five words that define that person, then work them into a statement about him or her. It is not necessary to rhyme. Free verse allows you to say what you want to say and divide it into lines that make it easy to read.

When you have done that, read it out loud several times and listen to the way it sounds. You can make some changes to focus the meaning and make the poem read smoothly.

Remember to keep it simple and keep it about the subject.

In this case, where you are honoring a co-worker, it would be good to say what makes that person important to the organization and the people at the job, and include an expression of gratitude or admiration for who that person is and what they do.
