Question:

Please help, I really need an answer!?

What's IP?
I purchased an eBook for the first time and this is what it said:
"Each eBook has IP tracking enabled. Do not share this eBook or the download link. Anyone found doing so shall be in infringement of Federal Copyright laws."

I don't know what an IP is or how its tracked. My computer is not so reliable, so I wanted to back up this book by emailing it to my other email accounts and by downloading it onto my dad'scomputer- he's not going to be using it, it pertains to my job. I got the feeling after reading this that if I do that, I'll have the Feds knocking down my door.

Also, does this mean I can't let anyone read it? If I bought a copy of the actual book in a store, I could lend it to people, etc.
If I think my friend would want to read it, can I send her a copy? What will happen if I do?

I'm not talking about scaming the author or selling bootleg copies or anything like that, I just want to know how I can use my eBook without breaking any laws, or going to jail.

copy it to word and save it on a disk or cd. or copy it to word, and then attach the word document to the email. that way you're not going through the internet with the original.

an IP is an address that your computer at your location is specifically assigned to. if it tracks IP addresses, and you log on to a different compter, it can tell the difference between computers.

But really, do you think the feds are going to say anything about you transfering it to a different computer? That's not really copyright infrigement since...well...you're not selling it or distributing it or anything.
