Question:

What is it called when you defend your opposition with bad arguments to legitimize your own position?

For example, if I wanted to argue against in favor of Macintosh over PC, I would pretend to defend PC using nonsensical arguments like "I don't want a computer that doesn't crash, otherwise I wouldn't have an excuse to take a break!" or "PCs are better because they keep me more vigilant online because the virus protection is less picky", that make that perspective look bad... I can't figure out what that's called... Please help!!!!

Faulty logic. Logical fallacies (of which there are several).
