Is wrapping paper water proof?

Is wrapping paper water proof?

My friend died and i wanna make him a poem and put it in a box but i dont know if wrapping paper is water proof

Generally no. Perhaps some of it might be... they make coloured cellophane wrapping paper which would be waterproof, but the kind I have seen is clear.

You could always check. Just get a scrap of it and see if it soaks through when you get it wet.
