A lot of hard work, and a lot of pleasing others. I wanted to learn a bit more and finish-up on a Great Lakes freighter. I remember telling the "chef" that it was a very good meal; and then being told not to ever call her a "f**.. chef" again: as she's a "cook". But she was just being a bit salty as an officer, and a good one .. and a darn good cook . Get a bit of experience at some good local restaurants, and see if that's really what you want to do. I'd thought of going to a Cordon Blue School or a couple the New York culinary schools. You have to start cooking at a restaurant to pay back the outrageous debt from a school, and then learn you're an educated threat --NOT a treat -- and everyone has to learn to kiss butt from the bottom. Now if I was learning from Rachael ...scratch that...they say never learn from a thin chef. I still like cooking, but glad I don't do it as a living. Learning from a school of culinary, doesn't guarantee you anything. It will help you, if you're quiet about it. "Mom's" the word.
