OK .. I'm 30, read A LOT, read most of the books that you recomended (not "The Men Who Stare At Goats", but I googled it and it sounds really interesting) ...
I love philosophy, but not digested (don't like Jostein Gaarder in general)
I tried not to mention any authors I like, because I didn't want to set your stram of thinking ...
I loke good books, not ones you'd buy to read on a beach, and then bin them ...

I love reading and can recommend hundreds of authors, but we'd be here all day and is wholly dependent on my personal interests etc. Why not go to www.livejournal.com and look for 50bookchallenge? People there write about the books they've been reading and often rate them. This might give you some ideas. Best of luck!
