Question:

Help finding Frank Lloyd Wright Chair?

I've have searched far and wide for the so-called "origami chair" designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, all to no avail. Does anyone know where I could find one of these (aside from a black one now on eBay)? Check out the link to a page with the picture halfway down. http://www.ditext.com/chairs/wright/chai...

Any help would be great!

There are a few craftsmen in the US who will make a "duplicate," although it will never be an original. An original, of which the one on eBay is NOT, no matter what they tell you, would cost several thousand dollars apiece to begin with. As an 25 year antique insider, I have seen only TWO originals, appraised between approximately $2000-5000 EACH depending on condition & provenance. The market varies though, and with the increased demand for Prairie & Mission styles, both old & new, prices have gone up considerably over the past 10-15 years. At auction, bidding for this unusal chair takes the price considerably higher than appraised value. One in New York went for close to $12,000 a few years back.

You may look into this link of a wonderful craftsman who does make consignment pieces. Expect to pay close to the $800-1000+ dollar mark though. He may charge more or less. The time alone spent on making a piece like this is long and painstaking.
