What is the diff between emigration and immigration?

What is the diff between emigration and immigration?

I want to know the diff between the words immigration and emigration.I goen thru dictionary.com also.but unable to find the exact differece in meanings.Can anybody help me out with example please?

Emigration is departing from somewhere.
Ex: Many people emigrated from Germany prior to WWII.
Immigration is arriving somewhere.
Ex: Many Irish people immigrated to American following 1847.
