What were the benefit of ferroconcrete to architectual designs. How did this technological advancement change urban design?

ferroconcrete brought new posibilities for new types of structures,
higuer buildings and more resistant ones.
most of of the worlds new concrete cosntructions are done whith ferroconcrete.
urban design some how has changed in the means that higuer building were made and cities tend now to be more dense, which in some ways helps and in some ways does not.
unfortunatly the real benefits for urbanism the ferroconcrete promised are far from being reached.
america keeps their idea of suburbs whith mcmansions, asia builds higuer structures not in order to leave free green areas aside from the buildings , but in order to "over built and over use" every single space available.
