For the development of the mind?

I want to know other peoples opinions on the legalities of such natural mind expanding drugs like Salvia Divinorum,Hallucinigenic Mushrooms,and Peyote. I myself can find no answers to why the government outlaws these (except for one)substances which can bring great philisophical and spiritual insigths and chooses to create a hord of submissive consumers. I want opinions from drug users and non- drug users. Also, just to throw this out there, I think any recreational drugs are fine as long as they are not physicallly addictive and are used in moderation. Alchohol has proven to be thousands of times more deadly than marijuana, but we are having it force feed to us through the hypnotizing medium known as the Television.

Marijuana became illegal in 1930's during the depression and the american govt was looking for someone to blame all the ills of society on so they chose the Mexicans. They claimed the Mexicans were crossing our boarders, stealing our jobs, raping our women and doing all the bad stuff because they smoked marijuana.
President Nixon started the war on drugs in 1970 and signed it into law.
personally, I think most smokers need to come out of the closet and force our right to choose.
I think alcohol kills people, marijuana saves people.
