Question:

Why is anime turning emo and the boys look like girls?

why is anime turning so gay and emo i mean the boys look like girls http://animetribe.xi.co.nz/comps/shounen... see with their big hair and bangs and huge eyes and ridiculously small pointy noses. and now most aspiring artist are adapting the anime style which is really sad. i mean look at this crap http://animetribe.xi.co.nz/comps/shounen... yuck its unoriginal and crappy . sure there are some anime exceptions like this http://optrad.free.fr/img/couvertures/ar... its original. but i still wish people would start making their own style rather than adapting this bug eyed crap and don't give me that " big eyes express emotion" nonsense becuase there are plenty of ways to express emotion without having to draw people with eyes the size of melons http://animation.dreamworksfansite.com/r...

I think it has to do with the personality of the character they're trying to portray. "big eyes," as you put it, are very good at portraying the character as innocent and sweet. With most anime you can look at a character and make an assumption that is usually correct about how that character is going to behave. THe good anime, in my opinion, will make you rethink that assumption later on, and explain why a "mean" character acts the way they do. And yes, most of the anime I've seen looks pretty much the same. But I think that the drawings are second in importance to the storyline. I don't watch anime for the pretty pictures and variations in facial features; if I wanted that I'd watch Disney or some computer graphics movie. I watch anime because they tend to be more daring than Western "cartoons," because the Japanese voice actors are many times much better at expressing vocal emotion than English-speaking actors in other shows I may watch. And I watch them for many other reasons besides.
And remember that most people who watch anime are women, or girls. Pre-pubescent girls and women who are not about to start their monthly menses tend to be more attracted to men who are "softer" in appearance. Essentially, when a women isn't about to have her period, or in the case of younger girls, they want a Leonardo diCaprio style guy, but when a woman is her most fertile, her body is more attracted to a body builder (think Arnold in the Terminator). Most of the time women and girls want a guy who is sensitive and understanding, who won't be too aggressive, etc. And the faces and eyes you describe depict just that. It's all about marketing to your audience and portraying your character properly.

And if you don't get it, then don't watch those shows. Save yourself the trouble of feeling the need to complain.
