Question:

Does this make sense to you?

An adopted girl's friend, in my novel, suggests to her that she 'talk' to her mother when she feels lonely, and the girl replies:

- How would I know if she were listening?
(And friend replies) - It wouldn??t matter none. She??d know you was speaking.

Does this make sense to you? Or should i word the dialogue differently?

i suppose so. if you were reading it and knew the mother wasn't listening only hearing and that was what the friend was implying. so i assume that the friend is telling the girl just to speak to her mom so that just letting it out will make her feel better. no need to worry if she's listening.
