or is there any other way to get them in advance?

tix.com? i've never heard of that before. were you given delivery options or just told they would be at the box office? I would highly suggest you call the box office and make sure that tix.com is where they sell thier tickets. if, for example, ticketmaster is the company selling thier tickets, then only they would be able to leave tickets at the box office. You could buy tickets from someone else, but you would need to have them in hand when you get there, since anyone other than the authorized ticket seller wouldn't have the ability to leave tickets at the box office.
