Is it true that cows are slaughtered in India?

Reports say 10,000 cows/bull are killed in the sacred country,for leather/meat....

it is illegal to kill cows in most states!!!!!

Yes, it is true. Even in the states where it is illegal, stray cows are caught on the streets and butchered for their skin and meat.

I remember a devotee petitioning on Chakra.org that devotees shouldn't use traditional clay mridangas, as in commercial drum-making business the bull's skin that is used doesn't come from the animals that fall naturally (as it is supposed to be), but from the slaughtered animals. Kali-yuga!!!
