Question:

Why is techno/trance/dance music not popular in the USA???

When you think about it, techno originated in Detroit...yet, virtually no American listens to it (only very few people). Why?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

People want i instant gratification. They want lyrics to sing along with. But if you think about it, techno has raised standards and changed the face of music. I can't speak for everyone, but the stereotypical house /trance with repetitive beats and some girl making noises at an increased tempo really doesn't appeal. I've been more into producers that create great beats, but I like the lyrics along with it. But groups like Ratatat could break the mold and bring techno back to popularity. I just think it's going to take more creative ideas to get more people interested. But then again, I don't mind if it's not really popular.
