You can find the maker by looking through the f-hole (the s-shaped holes on the top) into the body of the instrument. If its there, its usually pretty obvious as a little piece of paper glued down with a name and year. To find out how much it is worth you should go to a violin shop. If you don't know where to go, I would suggest contacting a local music store or string teacher at a school or university and ask who they recommend. Good luck!
