Writing contests?

Writing contests?

I love writing; it's quite possibly the most therapeutic and calming activity out there. I've always been a bit hesitant about entering competetions and stuff like that (I've also always despised being forced to write) but now I feel like I want to give it a try. So does anyone know of a writing contest/competition I could enter?

I found a site on the net, which is an American site,and they had both a writing and poetry contest. The entrance fee was reasonable in american dollars. It was too expensive for me in my currency. Don't remember address, but if you type in writing/poetry, you will probably find it.There is alo a marvellous book on the subject called The NZ(new zealand) Writer's Handbook by John Parsons. But I expect you will have an american version in your local library. Good Luck!
