Question:

What's the difference between a novel and a book?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Book is a general term describing pages held together with some kind of binding and usually with a cover. The cover may be hardback or what is called paperback (soft cover).

A novel is a specific kind of book. A work of fiction containing somewhere around 70,000 words as a minimum, though some publishers have lowered that to 50,000 -- especially in the electronic publishing market.
