Why is America killing it self? ...? Are we Sell outs?

Every day another American Co. shuts it's door,, moving overseas or accross the boarders! It's all about the money anymore ,, but what is happening long term is the death of America.. no more middle class! We will only have rich and poor very soon ! And the sad part is most that do realize this don't care because they are making the money ,, the ones that don't are not important enough to do anything if they did,,,!! Sad.. and there is no stopping this !

You pose an interesting question and one I've asked often. IMHO, American companies are looking to maximize profits in the shortest time possible for the stock holder. Consequently, the American worker gets hit with lay offs, reduced benefits, etc. Also, politicians have literally sold this country down the drain and let a lot of this happen with all the favorable laws they write to benefit corporate America. NAFTA is a prime example of this.

America is losing its manufacturing base. Once we lose it, our country will be held hostage by other manufacturing countries who are out to see us crumble (i.e., China). Yet, the brain trusts in Washington seem to think the "Information Age" will be much bigger than the industrial age. I don't think so. What will happen when we can no longer build tanks, guns, aircraft, etc. to protect ourselves? What good will all the information we've amassed do then? NOTHING!
