Why is it that in films like the 'The Mummy', the actors who play the ancient egyptians are always white?

Don't they realise the ancient egyptians were in fact black

Well the ancient egyptians themselves must have been embarassed about their skin colour, because in egyptian scripture and hyroglyphs the majority are represented as tan or olive coloured.
