Question:

Why is the label the dark ages no longer valid in our consideration of medieval culture and art?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

They were called the dark ages because not much was known about them. This term was used for the period following the fall of the Roman Empire and for a long time it was assumed that everything collapsed, knowledge was lost and not much happened. Now we know different because of archaeological finds, unearthed documents and better research, it is no longer appropriate to call them the dark ages.
