it is a custom ,a social or religious commitment ,and it is not nessecary
if people live together and have kids
nothing changes ,they are married as far as the law is concerned anyway
some times mairage destroys a relation ship .a friend who was 84 lived with his girl friend for 40 years ,she bugged him all his life to get married ,but he refused ,and they never parted
some people live together for several years ,then decide to get married and break up soon after
