Question:

How do you see literature in today's context?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

That is a great question. Literature is a form of art wherein a metaphor is hidden within the text to allude to problems or contradictions within the spirit of the time (Zeitgeist). Think of the Metaphor as sort of a spiritual hypertext link. It holds more information than meets the eye. In past times, when books were one of the only forms of information for the literate, Literature played a profound, frontal, role on describing the exigencies of life. Now however, more and more things vie for our attention. For those promulgating literature, they face the same fractionalization that other mediums face. As our society becomes more technocratic and specialized, the ability of people to have the tools to analyze literature is weakening. Vapid pop culture is expanding rapidly and choking out the finer things. In short we need a cultural Renaissance. Thank you, I tried my best to explain.
