Question:

Is it crazy to try starting a community theater in a town of about 3000 people?

Are there any links that would be helpful in finding things to consider when starting a theater from ..basically..nothing? Any advice? What makes a theater non-profit?

First I would do a survey and actually try to find out how interested people are. Then if you get enough people, figure out if there are enough w/necessary skills who can build/paint sets, do costumes, lighting, music, etc.

Then figure out where the funding will come from. Maybe hold fundraisers around the community.

Make sure you have a place to hold the plays, too. That could cost money also.

If you feel there's enough interest and possible money, then go for it. Small towns need culture, too!
