I have read mixed reviews
one person said others are junk, and that battery-less models besides wacom are illegal because they have the patent. she also said that she had one by Genus or something that only lasted 2 years, but has a wacom that has lasted 5

I have owned a Wacom Intuos 2 for three years now. In my experience, it is as solid as a rock. I bought it direct from Wacom.com, but you may find it cheaper elsewhere (eBay, Amazon?)
