Question:

Is it morally wrong for an eighteen year old to have sex with a seventeen year old?

DO NOT tell me it is statutory rape. I am aware that it is LEGALLY wrong in most states. My question is about MORALS. Thank you for your answers.

The legal issue really depends on the state.

As far as the moral issue ... I don't buy that it is always morally wrong to break the law (I'm not wracked with guilt over jaywalking), and the morality of sexual relationships is a tricky one.

It really depends on whether or not both people are mature enough to know the possible consequences of consent. In that case, I don't see anything wrong with it. If she was, say, 15, then that would be a different story. That's a big three years.

Here's an interesting question, why did I assume that the woman was the younger party?
