I need your help in this poem " My Last Duchess"?

What is the difference between these 2 lines according to the duke:
That's my last duchess painted on the wall
and there she stands
And what is the difference between the 2nd line looking as if she were a live and line47 as if alive

I'm confused here. Those lines are so not the important part of the poem. They basically mean the same thing, that his wife, the duchess, is dead, and the painting of her is very realistic, to the point where it looks exactly like she was--down to the flush in her cheeks.
The two lines really frame the poem, so you could say that it's the context. The first time he says it, it opens the poem and from there he transitions into his bitter account of how he wasn't the only man who could bring the blush to her fact and sparkle to her eyes.
Line 47 closes this account, as he reminds himself that she is now dead so there is no point dwelling on her, and the rest of the poem is small talk to the imagined guest in the narrator's house.
so I guess you could say that the first line informs us that his wife is dead and the latter one reminds him that she is gone.
I think this was probably one of those stupid homework things that dumbassed high school teachers assingn. I hate it when the people in charge of our education are such freaking morons.
