Whether people like his works or not, Dali (not "Dail" as you write it) is a great painter and sculptor. His imagination and creativity are so strong AND he dares to paint or sculpt what he sees ... with his mind's eye.
He is Spanish. So he contributes to Hispanic art in the same way Velasquez did : his works are different and highly original simply because he was born in the 20th century.
Dali is also a part of the worldwide surrealist movement, as well as Matisse (Belgian art) Chagall (french/born Russian art) etc.
