Question:

Did I break my voice?

when i was fifteen and stupid, i suffered a pretty nasty breakup with this dude i thought i loved. later that day, me and my best friend had a screaming contest in my kitchen, basically sitting down and just shouting about how everything sucked at the top of our lungs, we went on till our voices were brittle and hoarse and we had sore throats for maybe two days afterwards.

later on when i could talk and sing again, i found, to my horror, that pretty much my entire high pitch range had been knocked out. when i try to sing in a high note, all that comes out is a hiss or nothing, and when i try to gradually switch from a low to a high, my voice simply breaks.
well now i'm sixteen, seventeen in may, and i would have thought this would go away by now.
did i damage my vocal chords? what the hell did i do- and is there any way i can fix this and get full range back?
oh and please dont say 'practice', cos ive heard that about nine million times. thanks!

i do believe that you did damage your vocal chords b/c it has been over a long period of time.

i get paid to sing [basically at birthday parties] and i volunteer at local events. Whenever I scream, for like a week after my vocals aren't the same.

Have you tried honey or drinking a tablespoon of olive oil before you sing high? Or eating ice? Do this right before you sing.

I would definatley go to your regular doctor and talk to them and try to see a specialist for your throat. Even if it doesn't hurt, mention about the vocal chords.
