Question:

How do you obtain copyright for museum exhibitions?

How do you go about obtaining copyright for objects and descriptions used in museum exhibitions and publications? I know it is a bit of a vague question but any first-hand advice or website reading would be very much appreciated! Ta

You mean you want to use an image that belongs to a museum for something?

You ask them. If it's not for profit they'll almost certainly say yes, as long as you credit them. If it is for profit you might have to pay them money, but you still might get it for nothing if you credit them.

If you mean you have an exhibit and want to "copyright" something then you're confused -- copyright only applies to created works. If you take a photo, then you have the copyright on the photo. If you make a sculpture you have the copyright. It's automatic.

If this doesn't answer your question youll have to explain further.
