cool art project mediums?

Any crazy/cool art project mediums?

i want to do something more abstract, for example creating a rainforest setting or using scrap metal.

i've used varnish, not as a coat, but poured into a mold, and put things into the varnish while it was still wet. and when it dried, it was a clear block with my obejcts trapped in it. that's cool.
