Recently (post 2002) an ex-spy passed away. She was female. Are there leads to name of deceased female spies?

I wish I had more information...but I know she went over seas in the 1940's as a spy for America. I just heard the tail-end of the story and I'm trying to find out more about this person and her fabulous history. Apparently, up to her death, she lead a very "normal", quiet life. No one would have gussed the adventures she had as a young woman in the 40's. Thanks to anyone who can give ANY information about this woman.
