Question:

I used to draw and paint but now???

i have been unable to find the inspiring spark or flame to ignite my hands to put to paper that which i feel. my heart is in some major knots and the usual things to settle me down just don't work. have any of you found a way to use this mass of jumbled emotions and direct them on a path of travel to get the flow pumping?

Perfect username- I think I'll wear blue jeans and tennis till I go on to the next life!
I am an artist by profession and did murals for 30 years. Clients think it just "comes out" of you but I would experience burn out a couple times a year and really have to push. Figure at least 1 mural and 2 decorative art projects every week for 28 years-not easy.
When we moved to the suburbs (do they have that in So CA?) I closed my business and decided to sell my fine art from a studio at home. Very hard- part block, part a need to not hear no or get rejected. I've been sellingon Ebay for 3 years now and decided to try a sculpture "contest" held by the city to raise money for the arts-I drew up a design of what I immediatelt saw in my head-got in! 32 artists out of 450 were picked! Awesome experience-I tile mosaiced it! So I tried another! Out of over 200 artists from 29 states and 10 countries-I got picked for a sculpturewalk in South Dakota! Not a brag! Just maybe amazement and happy someone liked my work. Anyway-after 28 years with a brush-I'm sculpting- don't confine yourself. If your blocking the art,try something new. Even silly stuff can be creative and idea expanding. Being on the edge of the cliff is scary- do you jump or not? You know? Worry about the process and go on art sites, ebay, art.com (posters) and such and get visual ideas that trigger you! Good Luck! Still poor but selling!
