Ok you know how in songs, some verses are repetitive/redundant? Well sometimes in my poems I'd like to repeat a line and add to it a few times but people complain saying it's redundant/repetitive. Well aren't songs like that too??

Poetry can be written in any way or form. Some poems feel more poetic with repeated lines. Songs ARE a form of poetry, so don't be mistaken by what people say.
