Question:

Philosophy and the search for God..?

This is a quote form Thomas Jefferson.
Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.
Would any of the great philosophers agree with Jefferson?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

I think any great philosopher would agree with this. It is reason and inquiry that separates an enlightened mind from a foolish one. Fear is a destroyer of dreams and will. If you live life fearing God than you will never find him, because even if you did, you would not have the courage to confront him. Only by questioning what you've been told to be true will you ever be able to live up to the full potential of what you were created to become or blossom into.
