Question:

What would you say the mood of this poem is?

I am not asking you to do my homework, so don't even say it.
I had to do a poetry analysis that consisted of 9 questions and I want to make sure I got the mood correct & what ya'll would say it is. I put it as melancholy because he is happy that he is in love but is sad at the same time because he has to leave??

"A Red, Red Rose" Robert Burns

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune!

As fair thou art, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I:
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt with the sun;
I will luve thee still my dear,
When the sands of life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve,
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again , my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.

thanks!

Although the end looks melancholic..i think its a happy romantic poem...because the lover is in a gay mood and he bids farewell to his beloved with a hope to meet again very soon....so i think you should think about it once again... actually the problem with poetry is that we can have so many interpretations of one thing...so dear it depends on your perspective how you see a poem...
