All the people above are quite naive! To become a professional Film or TV director you need to know all the technical aspects of film/TV making and production, meaning camera, lighting, electricity, art direction, sound, cinematography, editing, lab techniques and effects plus a good load of the history of Cinema.

You should enroll as soon as possible in a Film / TV school to learn all this since you say you don??t know much unless like the above repliers you just want to suffer since it is a lot of hard work and to have fun you must have control over what you are making.

In the US, there are plenty of good schools. In the East coast, you have Emerson College, NYU, or Columbia University. On the Midwest, you have the school of Cinema related to the Sundance festival (now don??t remember the freakn name), and in the west coast AFI -American Film Institute, USC, UCLA or the LA center of Emerson College.

Once you have enough knowledge and while you study try to work in as many films/TV as you can, for free or for payment, join the ACE or AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHERS UNION and then either through contacts or because you know how to substitute money for imagination you can do good movies or shows.

All of the above is OK if you just want to do a home video or U tube stuff which is not professional level and will not get you a job as a director anywhere and also if you say you have passion for film you owe it to yourself and the industry to do good work. Previous suggestion jus will end that many people through the web maybe see your films however they will just be little pieces and besides you do not get to understand how to make a film and how to direct actors just by doing a video production for free. I am a film/TV director and although I studied in the US, I worked in my own country. I know what I am talking about.

If you are not in the US, nowadays almost every country has a decent school of cinematography and TV

Best regards and good luck
