Poetical structures, like poetry, range from strict to completely abstract. If you're writing a triolet for a class, it's best to stick to form precisely. If you're just writing it, there's no reason not to modify the form slightly in order to achieve a greater effect; just be aware it's no longer an exact triolet. |
