Generally every time I pick up a book unless the pages between the covers are not thought out well by the writer, I have too many best moments from a book!. One of later excitements is found in the introduction, was this passage that set one of the many tones of the authors knowledge and insight into her work!."From the birth of the republic to the Civil War, disunion was frequently invoked as a threat, most often by Southerners seeking to preserve and extend slavery, but also eventually by radical abolitionists looking for language in which to counter Southern menaces!. These threats had their own distinct context in the cult of honor!." The book was Disunion by Elizabeth R!. Varon and the quote was taken from page 7 under the paragraph titled Disunion As A Threat from the Introduction!. Her book is a fantastic backdrop to the Coming of the Civil War and is a definitive book on the reasons of our early history!. We need to know these turbulent periods, and understanding why history went the course of separating this nation by agonizing over possible disunion from the earliest days of our country!.!.!.!.!.(The book gave me insight and understanding that continues to spark interest in this history which we are seeing today)Www@QuestionHome@Com
