basically if there are some facts that you need to introduce, but it's not quite long enough to make a chapter, or takes place in another time that you will only hear of but will not necessarily revisit, you make a prologue!. it just comes at the beginning to help introduce the main idea of the story so you know what's going on, but doesn't give away anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1!. a preliminary discourse; a preface or introductory part of a discourse, poem, or novel!.

It's a short section at the beginning of a book that tells a little something to set up the coming story!. Usually it tells you things that happened before the main story, that will help you to know the characters, or understand the world they live in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
